AWS Connections
Getting Started
Create your first AWS connection to Orkestia in minutes.
This guide walks you through connecting your first AWS account to Orkestia.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, ensure you have:
AWS Account
required
An AWS account where you want Orkestia to deploy resources.
IAM Permissions
required
Permission to create IAM roles in your AWS account:
iam:CreateRoleiam:PutRolePolicyoriam:AttachRolePolicyiam:GetRole
Orkestia Account
required
You must be logged into Orkestia with an organization.
Step 1: Navigate to Connections
Open the Connections Hub
From the Orkestia dashboard, click Connections in the sidebar navigation. You'll see the Connections Hub with all available integrations.
Find Cloud Providers
In the Cloud Providers section, locate the Amazon Web Services (AWS) card.
You can also navigate directly to
/connections/aws in your browser.Step 2: Add Your First Connection
- On the AWS Connections page, click the Add Connection button
- The connection wizard will open to guide you through the setup process
What Happens During Setup
The wizard guides you through five steps:

| 1. Choose Scope | Select organization-wide or site-specific |
| 2. Choose Method | Manual, CloudFormation, or Terraform |
| 3. Route53 Option | Enable if you'll use AWS Route53 for DNS |
| 4. Setup Instructions | Detailed steps to create the IAM role |
| 5. Enter Role ARN | Provide the ARN of the role you created |
Scope follows your organization — the same tenancy unit that scopes workflow runs. See Organizations & identity for the model.
After Connection
Once connected, Orkestia will:
Validate Connection
Verify it can successfully assume the IAM role.
Check Permissions
Ensure all required permissions are present.
Analyze Security
Check for overly permissive policies and provide recommendations.
Your connection will appear in the list with an Active status if everything is configured correctly.
