Run a workflow from an assistant

Connect an MCP client, start one workflow, and watch it reach a terminal state

You finish this when an assistant has started a run and that run has reached COMPLETED or FAILED.

1. Create an organization

Sign up and create an organization. The org scopes every later run. The steps are Quick start, step 1.

2. Add the MCP server

Point Claude, Claude Code, Cursor, or ChatGPT at:

https://mcp.orkestia.dev/mcp

Client-by-client setup, including OAuth and a token, is Connect an assistant.

3. Say hello

Paste this as the first message:

Call whoami and tell me who I am and which organization my runs will be scoped to.

The server resolves the organization from the token. The assistant does not ask you for it.

4. Start one workflow

Ask the assistant to list workflow namespaces, read the schema of one type, then start it and watch it. If the schema says the type has prerequisites, the assistant shows those and waits. The prompt and the tool order are in Run your first workflow.

The same run can be started from the console or an SDK. The engine does not care which door you used.

5. If it fails

Open the run, read the history, and retry. That loop is Operate a run.
